It is rainy season in Florida and bugs thrive in moisture. A silent but serious pest may be behind your walls, without you even knowing! These critters can cause severe structural damage to the foundation of your home by chewing through wood, flooring, and even wallpaper, without being detected. With the proper pest protection, thousands of dollars in damage can be prevented.
Insects & Moisture
The wet season in Central Florida lasts an average of five months. It generally begins in late May and runs through mid-October. Sixty-one percent of our total annual rainfall is received during these five months. Insects and rodents seek shelter during this weather. This summer has already brought us a ton of heat and rain. You will start to notice more ants, roaches, and insects of all types. Summer also brings termite swarms- something you do not always see.
What are Termites?
Termites are small, pale soft-bodied insect that lives in large colonies with several different castes, typically within a mound of cemented earth. These swarms of pests build tunnels, gaining access to above-ground food sources, and more importantly, your home. They slowly feed through walls, floors, and wood structures, eventually gaining access to the inside of your residence or business.
Signs of Termites
Termites are usually only noticed after significant damage has been done. Termites will feast on cabinets, banisters, and outside siding. Sometimes, termite destruction may resemble that of significant water damage, but most times, termites go completely undetected. Burrowing in walls, termites will remain active until treated.
Termite Protection & Prevention
It is recommended for home and business owners to have annual termite inspections performed to ensure the integrity of their buildings. Our professionals check for moisture, wood debris and other environmental factors where termites thrive. If termites are detected, we will compile a treatment plan to eliminate infestations and prevent new ones.
